Create memes, not monologues


Yesterday I stumbled over a short clip from this interview by Chris Williamson, and he said something that resonated deeply with me.

When you’re explaining a concept, start with a meme. A shareable name for that thing. Then go into explaining it.

I think this is part of the success behind movements like e/acc or even Black Lives Matter. The name becomes a brand. Something easy to remember, even if you only vaguely recall the explanation behind the meme.

So if you want to make an impact: create memes, not monologues.
